Tura, April 29: In a suspected case of attempted timber smuggling that turned for the worse, a vehicle capsized killing one of the occupants at around 4:30 AM on April 29th.
The vehicle ML-08H 8366 a Bolero pickup vehicle laden with timber was speeding when it overturned at Jelbongpara- Salbari PMGSY road.
As a result one of the occupants of the vehicle person died on the spot and two other persons sustained injuries.
The injured persons were shifted to Civil Hospital, Ampati for medical treatment, where one of the seriously injured victims identified as Omor Farrooq was referred to Tura Civil Hospital for better medical treatment while the other was discharged from the Hospital after giving first aid.
However, the driver of the said vehicle fled from the place of occurrence. After observing all the legal formalities on the dead body,the dead body was sent to DM&HO Ampati morgue room for conduct Post Mortem examination. After Post Mortem examination the dead body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased for the last rites.
The accident involved vehicle and timber has been seized for taking further necessary legal action.
