Tura, Sept 21: The 37th Meghalaya State Badminton championship kicked off at Indoor Sports Hall, Hawakhana, Tura. An opening ceremony was held on Wednesday morning where the chief guest West Garo Hills DC, Swapnil Tembe, opened the games. The District Sports Officer Saljagring M. Marak along with other dignitaries were also present in the function.
A total of 170 Players from different districts of the state are participating in this tournament. The championship will end on September 24.
Speaking to Hub News, General Secretary of Tura Badminton Association, Rikrak Ch. Momin, said “We are very honoured and happy to host this Championship for the 2nd time here. It is being hosted after 27 years gap. This will certainly boost the morale of the young badminton players. Also, we believe and hope that more such competitions will be hosted in Tura in near future.”
