TURA, April 28: Alarm bells are beginning to ring in Garo Hills as covid testing has begun to show positive cases, this week.
On April 27th alone, Tura civil hospital conducted 42 tests of which 6 patients were found to be positive with the virus.
Earlier, five other people had tested positive for the virus.
As of April 27th, the total number of active Covid cases stands at 11.
With people dropping their guard when it comes to prevention, as face masks are no longer used and hand sanitization has stopped, there is fear the disease could return in a big way with a larger number of infections.
Prior to the second wave of covid that struck the country in 2021 claiming thousands of lives in northern India, people had dropped their guard when it came to preventive measures.
The highest number of victims were people who had comorbidities such as heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure and infections and also included a large number of those who had refused to vaccinate themselves against the disease.
