Shillong, Nov 1: Rajya Sabha MP, Dr. WR Kharlukhi on November 1 consulted with the Khasi Author Society at NEHU Shillong Campus in tabling the issue of the Khasi people and the State of Meghalaya at large on the floor of the House when the Rajya Sabha session resume.
While talking to newsmen, MP Kharlukhi said that issues like the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution are his two primary objectives to table in the floor of the House in the coming Rajya Sabha session.
Kharlukhi said he will put the ILP issue in the starred question and the inclusion of the Khasi language in the ‘Zero Hour’ discussion.
“Meghalaya will celebrate its 50 years of Statehood next year, the Central govt should consider looking into the issues that concern our state,” said Kharlukhi.
“Lobbying will be another strategy, in impressing the Central Government to look into these issues concerning our States” added Kharlukhi.
