74th Republic Day celebrated at Ampati

Ampati, Jan 26: Along with the rest of the nation, the 74th Republic Day was celebrated at Ampati, South West Garo Hills district with full patriotic fervour and gaiety on January 26, 2023.

South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Gideon Kharmawphlang unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute in the presence of Superintendent of Police, Stephen Rynjah, officials of the District Administration, other district officials, students and the public during the ceremonial function at Ampati Mini Stadium.

During the celebration, March Past was presented by 11 parade contingents comprising of Meghalaya Police, NCC and Scouts & Guides, while eight government departments and agencies displayed schemes and services available for people’s benefit through tableaux presentation.

Police personnel and government employees from various departments were conferred with Appreciation Certificates for their dedication and outstanding services and trophies were also given to the best parade contingent, while PHE, Horticulture and District Commerce & Industries Centre bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively for their tableau display.

Cultural item during 74 Republic Day celebration

The highlights of the day-long celebration were the colourful cultural programme by various schools and cultural groups, children’s sports and exhibition football match played between DC XI and SP XI, where the Police team defeated DC XI by 4-2 goals.
