ACHIK gets massive support in SGH for retrospective Roster System, Second Capital in Tura

Must read

Baghmara, April 13: Thousands of students, NGOs, and concerned citizens attended a meeting held by the A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) in Baghmara in South Garo Hills (SGH) on Thursday to discuss the Roster System and Second Capital in Tura.

Sources informed that the Vice President of ACHIK led the discussion and called on the A’chik people to come together for their cause. He reminded the attendees that the Garos’ rights and entitlements had been robbed for 50 years, and some people were now demanding that this robbery be legalized, penalizing the A’chiks for being backward by taking away their rights and entitlements.

Many participants called for street protests if the Garos’ rights and entitlements were subdued through an illogical cut-off date.

The attendees emphasized that only the year 1972 should be considered for the cut-off, and no excuses on this matter should be compromised. Moreover, the ACHIK and concerned citizens of South Garo Hills pledged that the Second Capital should be established in Tura immediately, with all attached offices officiating from Tura instead of Shillong.

ACHIK stated that they would not rest until their demands – Roster System implementation from 1972 and Winter Capital – are immediately met for the greater justice of the A’chik people, in particular, and people of Garo Hills, in general.
