Itanagar, Jan 31: After 14-days in Chinese PLA captivity, Miriam Tarom, the Arunachal Pradesh boy, finally reached his home on Monday. After his arrival at Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh, people welcomed and greeted him.

His health is in good condition and he is fine. His father Apun Tarom expressed his happiness and thanked Indian government for bringing his son to them.

Talking to media persons, Miriam Tarom said, “I am happy to return back to my home. I thought that I couldn’t return back to my home. But thanks to Indian Army and all my well wishers for helping me to return back to my family members.”

He further added, “When I was captured I don’t know where I was but after sometimes I came to know that Chinese PLA captured me and brought me to their camp. Four times a day I was given food in their camp.”

Apun Tarom, father of Miriam, said, “Today I am happy and thank Indian government and especially media for highlighting the story and helped my son to return back.”

Villagers and well wishers thronged to Tuting to welcome him. A grand feast was organised at his village Zido.

It had been suspected that the 17-year old Arunachal Pradesh boy Miriam Tarom of Zido was abducted by Chinese PLA.

On January 19, Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao claimed that a 17-year-old youth has been abducted from inside Indian territory. Gao claimed that the youth was ‘abducted’ from Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district.

Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh shares international boundary with China. Most of the times people from Arunachal Pradesh went to the interior area for hunting.
