Guwahati, April 26: The members of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Tuesday staged protest in upper Assam Dibrugarh against skyrocketing price rise of essential commodities.
The members of Dibrugarh district unit AASU took out a protest rally holding banners and posters from Old Government Boys’ High School Field in Dibrugarh and the rally march towards Marwaripatty.
The members raised slogan against the government for failing to curb the price rise.
“The Assam government have failed to curb the price of essential commodities which are skyrocketing nowadays. The price of LPG has rise up to Rs 1200. Prices of essential commodities has been increased. The common people are having tough time to run their families,” said Aboni Kumar Gogoi, District secretary, AASU.
He also said, “The Food and civil supplies minister Rajit Dass and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have failed miserably to control the rising prices,”.
“The government should immediately take steps to curb the spiralling price of essential commodities and make it affordable for the common people. The price of fuel must also come down. The government have committed to work for the people but the price rise has proved that it has miserably failed,” he said.
