Mumbai, Mar 21: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met noted industrialist Ratan Tata and Tata Sons Chairman, N Chandrasekaran on Wednesday in Mumbai.
CM Himanta Biswa expressed his gratitude to Ratan Tata in a meeting that revolved around the newly started Ra 27,000 crore semiconductor plant in Jagiroad, Assam.
In a social media post, CM Himanta said that the ongoing project at Jagiroad is a significant investment by the Tata Group. Sarma conveyed his appreciation to the philanthropist on behalf of the people of Assam, highlighting the transformative potential of the project for the state’s economy.
Himanta also said that he has expectations for the first chips to roll out by 2025. Sarma affirmed, underlining the timeline for the plant’s execution.
It needs to be mentioned that the semiconductor facility represents a major milestone in Assam’s industrial development, signalling confidence and trust from one of India’s leading businesses conglomerates the Tata Group.
The investment is expected to boost employment opportunities and expedite Assam’s position in the technology and manufacturing scenario of the world.
