Assam Congress MP praises Mughals, stirs controversy

Must read

Guwahati, Aug 30: A tweet by Congress MP from Assam, Abdul Khaleque, has gone viral where he praised the Mughals, tweeting: “Of course, i am proud of Mughals, because they shaped Hindustan”.

Giving his clarification on the tweet on Tuesday, he said, “Firstly, we have to see under what circumstances I said that. Assam CM always says negative on Mughals so that CM accepted the contribution of Mughals. I am proud of Mughals because today’s Hindustan has been shaped by Mughals. Before Mughals, Pritviraj Chauhan was the ruler of Rajputana. Since the advent of Mughals this country was called Hindustan. Under Prithviraj rule, there was no Bihar and Bengal.”

He claimed that there was no conflict between Assam and Mughals, and that Assam was then an independent country, but today circumstances have changed.

“Lachit Borphukon general was Ismail Siddque and this was not a Hindu vs Muslim. Wrong narrative has been created by BJP and RSS,” Khaleque further added.
