Manas National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to a large population of rhinoceroses. The park has been facing a number of challenges in recent years, including poaching, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict.

On August 2, the skeleton of a one-horned rhino was discovered in the Bansbari zone of the national park.

In last few years, rhino poaching has been declined in the state due to the strong surveillance of the forest officials and anti-poaching squad.

“We are taking all slew of measures to to stop rhino poaching in Assam. But in some areas, the poachers took advantage of certain things and poached animals,” said the forest official.
