Agartala, June 14: Assam Rifles organised a mega blood donation camp in the Assam Rifles headquarter in Agartala on Thursday. Assam Rifles troopers, officers, and their family members, personnels from the Border Security Force (BSF), and teachers and staff from the Assam Rifles school, participated in the camp.
The blood donation camp was organized in response to an appeal by Chief Minister Manik Saha, who called for voluntary blood donations to address the critical blood shortage in hospitals across the state following the recent elections.
The appeal resonated strongly with the Assam Rifles, the oldest paramilitary force in India, and the BSF, leading to a collective effort that resulted in the donation of more than 125 units of blood.
Tripura’s Transport, Food, and Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, participated in the blood donation drive and interacted with the donors. Chowdhury commended the organizers for their dual role in protecting the nation and contributing to lifesaving causes through blood donation.
He highlighted the importance of such humanitarian efforts and encouraged others to participate in future initiatives. Many of the donors were first-time donors, while others had a history of regular blood donations. They expressed a sense of fulfilment knowing their contributions could potentially save lives and urged more people to join such noble causes.
The collective sentiment among the donors was to serve the community.
