Guwahati, May 3: In a joint operation launched by local police, forest department officials, and village guards, a suspected poacher was apprehended with a suspected rhino horn in Bharali Chapori, Jamugurihat, on Thursday night.
The accused, identified as Hanif Ali, was caught in possession of the horn during the raid. However, two of his accomplices managed to flee the scene. Police have launched a manhunt for the absconding poachers.
The operation was led by DySP (P) Debasish Kayastha, APS, with assistance from SI (P) Nihar Chiangmai and Jamuguri police.
