Shillong, Mar 7: Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Monday disallowed discussion on the issue related to the killing of a former HNLC general secretary Cheristerfield Thangkhiew in an alleged fake encounter at his residence in the wee hours of August 13, last year citing that it is subjudice.

Lyngdoh informed the House that there is a Zero Hour notice by suspended Congress legislator from Mawlai PT Sawkmie about the family members of Thangkhiew awaiting the inquiry report into the incident.

“(However), a letter was received from the chief minister that the matter is under judicial inquiry and it is subjudice. Therefore, the zero hour notice will not be discussed,” he declared.

The one-man committee of inquiry instituted by the state government is headed by retired Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, Justice T. Vaiphei.

The committee had started its hearing on September 9, last year.
