SHILLONG, Aug 27: Two Bangladeshi nationals, who were masterminds in aiding illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis into India, were on Friday arrested from along the international border in East Jaintia Hills district.
Acting on inputs, a joint team of Umkiang PP, Ratacherra CP and BSF under SI S Buam were successful in apprehending two masterminds of Bangladeshi origin who were actively aiding and abetting the illegal infiltration of suspected Bangladeshi nationals to India in past couple of months through Kuliang-Ratacherra axis, police said.
A group of Bangladeshi nationals were spotted in the jungle adjoining the unfenced international border near Pyrtakuna village.
However, due to the timely action of the joint team, two Bangladesh nationals were apprehended. Few others managed to flee back into Bangladeshi territory, they said.
The two have been identified as Misba Uddin (31) and Badrul Alom (30). Both of them are from Darponagar village, Bangladesh.
Misba Uddin is wanted in several other cases. A case under the appropriate section of laws is being registered and investigation is in progress.
