SHILLONG, Sept 5: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday said Bernard N Marak’s case is totally different from Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai’s case.
He was reacting to the BJP’s demand for immediate suspension of AIGP (A) GK Iangrai for his alleged involvement in the misuse of 29 vehicles in order to pave the way for a CBI inquiry into the matter.
The party had alleged the government of pressing new charges against Bernard to throttle his political career but failed to suspend the said police official.
When asked, Tynsong said, “Bernard’s case is totally different. Iangrai’s case is totally different. You know this inquiry committee has already been instituted within the police department.”
“In as far as Iangrai’s issue, let us wait till the report reaches the government then action will be taken accordingly,” he assured.
He further added, “Because this is not an issue of misappropriation of fund or I don’t know may be it is misuse of only the vehicles but still I don’t know yet… so, let us wait till we get the report and then action will be taken as per the report to be submitted to the government.”
