Ampati, July 25: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Betasing C&RD Block in South West Garo Hills.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma informed that the government is committed to upgrade rural infrastructure to ensure the effective delivery of public services.
“As a government, we are dedicated to improving our rural infrastructure to streamline public service delivery. With this objective in mind, we are constructing new block offices, renovating and building Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs), and upgrading Government Lower Primary Schools across the state,” he said.
He also informed that the government has made substantial investment in rural infrastructure, and close to Rs. 120 crore has been earmarked for the construction of new block offices. “Close to 60 percent of these new block offices will be completed and inaugurated within this year,” he added.
To further enhance the functionality and accessibility of block offices, Chief Minister Sangma directed the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills to submit proposals for additional infrastructure.
“We want to ensure that when people visit the block offices, they have a comfortable place to sit and wait. The whole idea is that people should receive good services without facing any difficulty. Our endeavor is to serve the people,” he added.
Other present on the occasion included C&RD Minister Abu Taher Mondal, MLAs Sanjay A. Sangma, Ian Botham K. Sangma, and Subir Marak.
