Shillong, Feb 28: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister and South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Monday inspected the Organic Market, a market of 40 stalls, at Lumjatshai in Bishnupur area of Shillong city on Saturday.
During the inspection, Shullai said the market is almost completed and within a month’s time it will be handed to the local vendors of Bishnupur – Laban area. The total amount for the constitution of the organic market is about Rs. 4 crore which was sanctioned by the Revenue Department under the initiative taken by the MLA.
“The Organic market is my long vision for the people of my area… it was just after winning my 2013 election… I personally took up this initiative in brining this dream into a reality… the building is almost completed and it will be handed to the local vendors,” said Shullai.
“The delayed of this project is solely due to the effect of the pandemic… the temporary market place has created a menace and a favourite go-to place of illegal activities… so we (are) happy to see the swift progress of the project and within a month’s time the vendors can get their permanent place in the market,” added Shullai.
Shullai further informed that in place of the temporary market, he will bring in a road extension project that will beautify the area.
