Shillong July 10: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has accused the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) of creating confusion by publicly announcing their decision to contest the upcoming ADC polls independently, without discussing it within the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) framework.
According to UDP working president and Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh, the HSPDP’s move was unexpected and should have been addressed within the RDA executive committee instead of being made public through the media and WhatsApp.
Lyngdoh clarified that his earlier statement about HSPDP’s exit from RDA was based on their verbal communication, which was later confirmed by their public announcement. However, he downplayed the issue, stating that it’s been blown out of proportion and will be resolved amicably in the coming days.
The development has caused a stir within both parties, with many UDP leaders expressing surprise at Lyngdoh’s claims.
However, Lyngdoh remains confident that the differences will be ironed out, and the issue is not as dramatic as it seems.
