Boat capsized in Cachar, Assam one dead four others missing; rescue ops on

Guwahati, June 3: In a tragic incident, a youth died and another four people were missing after a boat capsized in Assam’s Cachar district on Monday.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Sonai Dakhin Mohanpur locality where an inflatable boat on relief duty carrying seven people, including women and children, capsized in floodwaters.

“The boat navigation through the floodwaters, was stuck by a sudden storm, causing it to overturn. Several passengers were swept away by the strong currents. One youth found dead and another four were missing,” said an official.

Meanwhile, rescue and search operation were launched with relief trams managing to recover the body of one individual and rescued two others alive.

On the other hand, NDRF has launched search and rescue operation to find another four persons .
