Tura, July 30: A speeding Boulder truck dashed into a father and his son on a scooter in Ampati, killing them on Friday.

Tenganbil M Marak (39) took his youngest son of five years, Bilkam R Marak, to buy biscuits and snacks to a shop outside Ampati civil hospital.

After buying their food items they were going back to their home when a boulder truck coming in full speed hit them directly, and killing them.

The driver then ran to the nearby jungle to escape but was spotted by farmers in a field who soon caught him. They handed him over to police in Ampati police station.

The victim Tenganbil M Marak was a deacon in the Baptist Church in Ampati.

Garo Students Union in Ampati has demanded that the government and the exporters association provide compensation to the family.

The driver is in police custody and the truck ML09 A 4135 compounded.
