Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra sworn-in as new Governor of Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 4: Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) was on Tuesday sworn-in as the new Governor of Meghalaya at the Raj Bhavan in Shillong.

Brig. Mishra is presently the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and has been given additional charge of Meghalaya till further arrangements are made.

Former Governor Satya Pal Malik’s tenure ended on October 4, and was not given an extension.

Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh, cabinet ministers Lahkmen Rymbui, Banteidor Lyngdoh, Hamlet Dohling and others were present.

Speaking with media persons, Brigadier Mishra complimented how beautiful Shillong is and how impressed he was with the place.

Brig. Mishra had reached the State capital on Monday. He was received by C&RD Minister Hamletson Dohling, Chief Secretary D.P. Wahlang, DGP Dr.L.R.Bishnoi, Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills Isawanda Laloo, and Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills S. Nongtynger, at the ALG, Upper Shillong.
