BSF and Police apprehend two Bangladeshi nationals in West Garo Hills

Shillong, Nov 27: Acting on a specific tip-off, on 26th November 2024, troops of the 22nd Battalion, BSF Meghalaya, in a joint operation with local police, apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals, namely Taharul Islam (23 years) from Chapainawabganj District and Md. Sayed (30 years) from Rajshahi District, near the bordering area of West Garo Hills District.

During questioning, both individuals revealed that they had crossed into India via the border in Murshidabad, West Bengal, approximately six months ago. They subsequently traveled to Chennai, where they worked as masons at a construction site.

An FIR was lodged, and both individuals were handed over to Dalu Police Station for further legal action.
