BSF Tura celebrates Teachers’ Day, felicitates teachers and encourages students to join the force

Tura, Sept 3: The Border Security Force (BSF), SHQ Tura, celebrated the Teachers’ Day on Friday wherein teachers were felicitated for their contribution in preparing students as the future of the nation.

On the occasion, the Security Force also made the students and teachers present aware about the importance of Teachers’ Day as well as about the role of BSF.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served as the second President of India from 1962 to 1967, and was also the first Vice-President of India (1952 – 1962). He was born on September 5, 1888, and was a well known great scholar.

During the event, a short documentary was screened which narrated the origin of BSF with the initial strength of just 25 Battalions on December 1, 1965, to the current day strength of 193 Battalions. The documentary also talked about its role and task of protection of border, counter insurgency operations, role of extending facilities to needy border population and role of disaster management.

A special highlight of the event was the weapons display, which was to create inquisitiveness among the students whereby the representatives briefed on the procedure of induction in BSF and motivated them to join BSF. Further, as part of this programme, Alok Kumar Singh, Dy Inspector General (DIG) of SHQ Tura, along with Sh Mayank Upadhyay, Commandant (Adm), also visited Don Bosco School, Tura.

During the informal interaction with the students, DIG Tura felicitated and appreciated the role of teachers in building the future of the nation. He also briefed in detail on the role and task of BSF, its contribution in national security, extending relief to needy border population and in disaster management. He further briefed about changing world scenario on socio- political aspects covering the advent of technology specially AI and upcoming challenges to be faced by new generation. He also invited school students to visit border areas, especially places of historical importance like War Memorial Kilapara among others.
