New Delhi, July 5: During the ongoing crisis owing to Covid-19 Pandemic, Govt. of India has again extended the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY-IV) wherein additional food grains is provided for distribution to all the beneficiaries under TPDS (AAY and PHH including those covered under DBT) at 5 Kg per person per month free of cost for a period of 5 months i.e July 2021 to November 2021.
Informing this on Monday, P. N. Singh, General Manager(Region), FCI, NEF Region said under PMGKAY-IV scheme a total quantity of 53638 MT rice for Meghalaya, 16705 MT Rice for Mizoram and 62070 MT Rice for Tripura has been allotted for free distribution to beneficiaries for the period of 5 months from July 2021 to Nov 2021.
The PMGKAY-IV scheme covers 21.46 Lakhs beneficiaries in Meghalaya, 6.68 Lakhs in Mizoram and 24.83 Lakhs in Tripura under FCI, NEF Region. This allocation is in addition to the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the entire expense will be borne by the Government of India. General Manager(R), FCI, NEF Region said that State Governments under NEF Region have shown enthusiastic response towards lifting the additional allocation under the PMGKAY-IV scheme as announced by Govt. of India.
