Shillong, Jan 19: BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Thursday said the Centre will soon implement a subsidy on fertilizers.
“On November last, the government has already called all the factories who are producing the fertilizers that we are going to again start the subsidy on fertilizers and this will benefit our farmers,” Mawrie told reporters.
When asked, the BJP president said that organic farming is there but Meghalaya is yet to be identified as an organic farming state.
“So since the demand from the farmers is not only from our state but from the entire country, that is why the PM has taken initiative to call the cabinet and take a resolution that they will again implement the subsidy on the fertilizer,” he said.
Mawrie however said he is very upset with the government here for upholding thousands of applications. “Several times we have requested them to approve the names of the farmers as money is coming from the Centre. We are facing that problem and we have already discussed it with the Agriculture Minister…,” he added.
