Check Gate as ATM row: Tynsong challenges Pala to file FIR on allegations

Shillong, Oct 21: Meghalaya Dy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday asked the opposition Congress to file FIR with the Police if the latter has any evidence for its allegation of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government indulging in illegal collection through illegal check gates along the Shillong- Jowai road.

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Congress MP, Vincent Pala, has blamed the MDA government for the mushrooming of different check gates along the Shillong – Jowai road which are collecting money, and referred to them as ATM for the government to spend money during the election.

Tynsong said if Pala has documentary proof for his claims then the Congress should take legal course of action and file an FIR at the nearest police station, otherwise these are mere allegations.

Nothing wrong in alliance constituents fighting polls

The Dy CM, also a NPP leader, further expressed that there is nothing wrong in MDA constituent parties fighting elections for the October 30 bye-elections to three Assembly seats, wherein their candidates are contesting against each other, and that this should not be looked at as division in the alliance.

Terming such comments by MPCC chief Pala as immature, he said Congress lacks agenda for the upcoming polls hence it is engaging in mud-slinging.

“Allegations made during election is something I feel voters understand better than anyone else. I’m not surprised that Congress keeps making mere allegations against the MDA partners,” remarked Tynsong adding that the voters are looking for development.
