Tura, May 26: Police have recovered the body of a 10 year old boy from a paddy field in a suspected case of electrocution after he went missing from home since Saturday, May 21st in New Bhaitbari under Rajabala constituency of West Garo Hills district.
The family had filed a missing report that their 10 year old son, namely master Mahabul Sheikh, son of Rahim Bahas of Bowabari, New Bhaitbari, Rajabala had gone out of the house onto the village road after having food on Saturday and did not come back.
A search was made in the village and neighbouring villages from all relatives but no clue could be found about the whereabouts of the young boy. Not ruling out foul play, the FIR was forwarded to Phulbari PS and then to Women Police Station in Tura.
While the investigation was going on by a woman police officer, farmers tending to their crops for harvesting found the highly decomposed body of the boy at the same village of Bowabari.
A strong case of electrocution is suspected as a live wire was found nearby and it was also revealed that the wire was allegedly stolen from a main power line and was being used for pumps to pull water for the crops that are starting to be harvested in the area.
Although the body has been sent for post mortem at Tura civil hospital police have registered a case to ascertain the causes of his death.
