This finale held significant importance not only because the winning team would participate in the Meghalaya Super League (MSL), but also because Chippakore FC had claimed the title by defeating Selsella SA in the previous Tura Football League in 2022. Coincidentally, both teams faced each other again this year, competing for the coveted title.
As the match ensued, Chippakore FC dominated ball possession in the initial minutes, and their efforts paid off when Brainsbirth G. Momin opened the scoring with a goal in the 24th minute. The stadium erupted with cheers when Selsella SA equalized four minutes later, with Chichang Momin finding the back of the net.
Despite Chippakore’s dominance in ball possession, both teams created scoring opportunities but were unable to convert them, resulting in a 1-1 deadlock at halftime.
In the second half, the deadlock persisted as both sides were evenly matched, with Chippakore showcasing incredible field presence and Selsella displaying strong defense. The game featured several missed opportunities and offsides.
The impasse was finally broken in the 75th minute when Brojen Muchahary scored, giving Chippakore FC a lead. Selsella SA launched multiple attacks to equalize but were unable to convert their chances.
As the final whistle blew, Chippakore FC triumphed, defending their title with a 2-1 win over Selsella SA.
