Tura, Mar 27: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, inaugurated the dialysis unit of the Department of Medicine of Civil Hospital, Tura, the much needed health facility, in the presence of West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, the doctors and other dignitaries on Saturday.

The chief minister, while inaugurating the unit, lamented that many of the patients had to travel to Guwahati and other cities for availing dialysis thereby spending a lot of money. However, the inauguration of this unit will now be of great relief to the patients with chronic and acute kidney disease, he informed.
The informing that the government is committed to provide better health facilities to the people and is focussing on up-grading rural health centres, the chief minister said that more money had been allotted to the health sector in the current financial year to improve the health-care facilities in the state. He also informed that ultra-sound machine will be provided to Dalu CHC in two weeks’ time and online system of keeping records of the patients will soon be started.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, speaking on the occasion, stressed on the need to start the trauma centre in Tura Civil Hospital and providing other health-care facilities in the rural areas too.
Delivering the key-note address, Nodal Officer, Dialysis Unit, Dr. Aaron KM Sangma, informed that even the people belonging to economically weaker sections of the society, will now be able to avail the facility at a meagre cost.
