Shillong, June 28: Opposition Chief Whip Saleng Sangma on Tuesday urged the Meghalaya government to intervene in the inflation witnessed in the state.
The Congress MLA was concerned that people who are trying to make ends meet are facing a challenge with the price rise and the public particularly the people below the poverty line have to also pay rent and feed their children.
He added that “today it is not only the poor people complaining about the price rise but it is also seen among the rich people complaining about inflation”.
“The price of beef a few weeks ago was approximately 400 but now it has gone up tonearly 800 rupees, which is a bad situation,” said Sangma.
