Congress takes dig at govt for non-payment of salaries

Must read

Shillong, Dec 2: The opposition Congress on Thursday called out to state government to release the salaries of employees of various sectors, who have time and again been forced to take to streets to voice for their rights.

After chairing a meeting, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ampareen Lyngdoh claimed that the lack of due diligence on the part of government has led to non-payment of salaries to employees in the various sectors either casual, ad hoc or others.

Seeking the urgent release of salaries, she said SSA teachers have been hitting the streets regularly and now the employees of the municipal boards in Shillong, Jowai and Tura have launched agitation.

“Non payment of salary to the employees has also become a big issue in all the municipal board areas,” she said while adding that even the garbage trucks that used to come to the localities are on strike.
