Shillong, Feb 18: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday distributed cheques to 77 producer groups under the FOCUS programme benefitting about 1000 farmers at a function held at St Peter’s Hall, Pyngdengrei, Nongstoin in the presence of MLA, Nongstoin, Macmillan Byrsat, and other officials from the district.

Speaking during the occasion, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that when pandemic hit the public and entire population of the world faced a lot of economic difficulties so the government came up with the FOCUS programme to extend financial assistance to the farmer families of the State to operate and expand their farming activities. He further informed that a number of 77 producer groups will be given FOCUS support amounting to Rs 71,85,000.He also apprised the gathering of a number of programmes of the government to benefit the farmers.

Later, the Chief Minister interacted with the farmers and the general public and addressed their queries pertaining to schemes and development of the district.
