Conrad inaugurates Session Court Complex at Ampati, hopes new infrastructure will enable faster disposal of cases

Ampati, Dec 10: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court Sanjib Banerjee on Saturday inaugurated the newly construction building of the District and Session Court Complex at Ampati in South West Garo Hills in the presence of MLAs Dikkanchi D Shira and Winnerson D Sangma.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the new building will emerge as an institution that will cater to the people of this region. “People of South West Garo Hills will always remember this important and landmark moment that will provide access to delivery of justice,” the Chief Minister added.

Talking about different system that co-exist in the country, the Chief Minister said, “Our Constitution has clearly defined responsibilities for different wings; be it legislative, executive or judiciary and we all are here to serve the people in different capacities. Chief Justice has a different role and responsibility to play, so does the Chief Minister.”

Stating that no system is perfect, the Chief Minister said that India is a vast nation with local and traditional laws in place and our judiciary system is working in perfect cohesion with it.

“The judiciary is now expanding and growing to provide justice to people in all aspects. We hope that the new infrastructure will enable the court to function better and dispose of cases faster,” he added.

He also informed that Law University in the State will be coming up soon, which will cater to students of the State.

He later inspected the newly constructed building along with Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
