Tura, June 7: After weeks of high infection rate of COVID-19 across the Garo Hills region, Monday saw a slight drop in the new active cases indicating that the containment measures currently put in place are perhaps working out.

From a high of 60s to 80s in the recent past, on Monday the number of new infections slightly dropped in West Garo Hills district. “Today there was a slight drop in the new active cases. The new active cases were 56 in the district,” informed Ram Singh, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner.

Most of the new cases were detected from villages across the district, though one locality in Tura did find half a dozen cases.
