Mairang, Feb 28: The first season of the Hynniewtrep Idol organised by the Hynniewtrep Association (HA) concluded on Saturday at Mairang ground, Eastern West Khasi Hills.

Daphilakhamti Mary Pyngrope was crowned the winner of the Hynniewtrep Idol season 1, Karvinroy Kharmawphlang bagged the second place while Dio Medy Kharmawphlang came in third. Daphilakhamti as the winner was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, while the first runner-up received Rs. 15,000 and the 2nd runner-up was awarded Rs. 10,000.The programme was attended by Osborne Kharjana as the Chief Guest, Pastor Shanlang warjri, Kitbok Thabah, the President of All Meghalaya Dancer Association and others.

The organiser of the singing competition, the Hynniewtrep Association, was given a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh as donation by the Mawthadrashan Congress Committee.

The programme concluded with a jam session entertained by DJ Banlum and DJ Yankee, two rising DJs from the State.
