Deputy CM lays foundation stones for Poultry Farm at Mawryngkneng and upgradation of existing Stockman Centre to Veterinary Dispensary at Sohryngkham

Shillong, April 13: Deputy Chief Minister, P. Tynsong on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the establishment of Poultry Farm under the National Livestock Mission (N.L.M) at a function held at Mawryngkneng, East Khasi Hills.

The laying of the foundation stone programme was attended by Pyniaid Sing Syiem the Local MDC and Chairman KHADC and officials from the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department.

Speaking during the programme, P. Tynsong stressed the need of having sustainable development and self-sufficiency. He added that the government is creating various avenues to help the farmers and to uplift the economy of the state. He also stated that the Poultry Mission will soon be implemented in the state and urged the public to take full advantage of the proposed mission. He further added that the poultry farm at Mawryngkneng will be converted into a farming hub that will cater for the whole of East Khasi Hills District.

Later in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for up-gradation of existing Stockman Centre to Veterinary Dispensary under NABARD loan at Sohryngkham, East Khasi Hills.

Addressing the gathering, P. Tynsong said that the Dispensary is not only about getting facilities for medication and surgery, it is also a facility for gathering information which in turn can help people thrive towards sustainable livelihood and income generation. He also urged upon the people to take advantage of the facilities provided for them at the Veterinary Dispensary.
