Shillong, Sept 17: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday told the Opposition Congress in the Assembly not to point fingers at the MDA government regarding the Inner Line Permit (ILP) issue.
Replying to questions from the opposition about the government’s action on ILP, the Chief Minister read out a statement give by the then State Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma on November 27, 2013. Dr Sangma’s statement reads: “The government (MUA) does not want ILP. We will not have discussion on ILP. How many times have we discussed the issue?”
“And today the opposition comes and asks – ‘what were you doing?’ Their stand is very clear that they don’t want ILP,” Conrad told the Assembly.
He said it was the MDA government that agreed to discuss this matter, move a resolution and pass it, and it also following up on it, which shows the intent and seriousness of the present government regarding the ILP issue.
“So, don’t point fingers at us,” he told the opposition.
