Tura, May 12: A dumper truck belonging to the Ganol hydro-electricity project for Tura met with an accident due to the slippery nature of the road at Chibragre under Rongram police outpost today and as a result one driver namely Roben Basumatary S/o. Drison Basumatary R/o. Damra, Assam P.o. Patpara, Goalpara, Dudhnoi police station was killed in the accident.
He was initially retrieved from the dumper which fell off the road into a deep slope in a serious condition and taken to Tura Civil Hospital but died on the way.
“The accident was not due to rash and negligent driving, but due to the slippery nature of the road,” informed M Raghavendra Kumar, SP of West Garo Hills.
