Shillong, April 20: In view of the prevailing heat wave and to ensure safety of the students, East Khasi Hills (EKH) district administration on Thursday ordered all educational institutions located around Dangar Area under Mawsynram Block to remain closed for a week from April 21.

It also said that out-door activities in all schools in East Khasi Hills are to be kept in abeyance until further order.

Earlier on April 18, the government had ordered the closing down of schools for three days in the three districts of Garo Hills region from April 19 to 21.

The advisory was given after there has been a surge in the heat wave in the three districts – West Garo Hills, East Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.
