Shillong, Feb 6: BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Monday filed his nomination from West Shillong constituency for the upcoming assembly elections, to be held on February 27.

Mawrie told reporters that he has been campaigning door to door and has been working very closely with the people of the constituency.

Expressing confidence to win the seat, the state president said, “People now want change and BJP is the only alternative which can fulfill the promises and not give lip service. Whatever promise we make to the people in the country, not only in Meghalaya we implement it.”

“People want development and peace that is why I am very confident that this time people of West Shillong and other constituencies will vote for BJP, they want to bring BJP to power,” he added.

He totally denied the allegation made by Michael Kharsyntiew, who was denied party ticket, and said the incident was only reported during the time of former president Shibun Lyngdoh and a complaint was sent to the party leadership in Delhi.

“So now after being denied the ticket will start again telling this entire thing, I don’t think so it will be the right time. Ask him to prove, we never ask, we from the party we are not like that, from the BJP we are against corruption no one is involved in that. If he has proof, he has to come forward. By charging people like that is not the way,” he said.
