TURA, Oct 12: Former Chief Executive Member of GHADC Alphonse A Sangma is joining the NPP in the presence of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, next week at Siju, informed party sources.
The twice Congress CEM of GHADC, who represented Siju MDC constituency for approximately twenty long years and also served as Executive member of land and revenue and even Chairman of GHADC, had for long advocated the need for more development of Siju given its immense potential for tourism.
The decision of the NPP led MDA government to create a development block for Siju appears to have endorsed the veteran politician in support of the Conrad K Sangma led party.
Alphonse Sangma’s entry to the NPP fold will leave a huge vacuum for the Congress in Siju region where it was once the dominating political force for decades.
