Dibrugarh, April 27: The family members of nine detainees of ‘Waris Punjab De’ visited them at the Dibrugarh Central jail on Thursday.

The family members were led by SGPC executive member and legal counsel advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka.

On the other hand, legal counsel of Daljit Singh Kalsi and Papalpreet Singh advocate Simranjit Singh also arrived separately along with Daljit Kalsi’s son at Dibrugarh Central jail on Thursday.

Apart from Amritpal Singh, the nine detainees lodged at Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act (NSA) are: Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh, and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla.

Talking to media persons, Bhagwant Singh Sialka said, “We have come to meet the family members. We have got permission from the Amritsar District magistrate to meet the members in Dibrugarh jail. We will challenge them in the Punjab High Court”.

Simranjit Singh said, “National Security Act (NSA) (has been) slapped on them without any reason. We will challenge it in the Punjab High Court. NSA will be scrapped and they will come out of jail. It was a conspiracy to slap NSA on them because it is a draconian law.”

“We will fight against NSA which was slapped on them and they were brought to Dibrugarh jail which is over 3000 kms from Punjab. We will fight the legal battle in court,” he said.
