Shillong, Mar 9: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday assured to take a final decision on the demand for the creation of new administrative units within this year.
“The state government is examining these demands and will take a final decision on the locations of the new civil sub-divisions, blocks, PWD divisions and sub-divisions in this golden jubilee year,” Sangma said in his budget speech.
He said that the upgradation and construction of new block infrastructure will be taken up at 40 blocks at Rs 130 crore.
Mini secretariat complexes at Tura and Jowai
Sangma further informed that mini secretariat complexes will be built at Tura and Jowai at Rs 45 crore with an aim to take administration closer to the people.
An amount of Rs 150 crore will also be spent for the creation of administrative infrastructure at all the district headquarters, he added.
‘Next Assembly Session in new Assembly’
The chief minister also said that the new assembly building being constructed at Mawdiangdiang at Rs 216 crore will be ready in the coming months.
“The next session will be held in the new assembly,” he announced while allocating Rs 100 crore for the completion of the project in 2022-23.
Asserting that law and order is essential for development and economic growth, Sangma said Rs 100 crore has been earmarked for the upgradation of the police and law and order infrastructure in the state.
