Four drug traffickers nabbed with 505.05 grams heroin in Golaghat

Guwahati, May 27: In a major operation against drugs, Assam police nabbed four individuals for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking in Assam’s Golaghat on Monday.

The drug traffickers were identified as- Ainul Haque, Tafiq Ali, Abu Bakar and Abu Bakar’s wife.

The police have seized 505.05 grams of suspected heroin from their possession.

According to police, they were arrested from Merapani area of Golaghat district after getting specific inputs.

“We have confiscated another 40 soap boxes containing heroin from a vehicle (AS05Q9697) linked to the suspects. All four individuals are currently in police custody,” said a police official.

The consignment is said to be worth Rs 30 crore in the international market.

“We have carried out an investigation to know the source and destination of the heroin,” the police said.

He said, “we have registered a case under NDPS Act in Golaghat police station. They will be produced before the court,”.
