Gabriel Ïangrai secures bail in four cases

Shillong, March 30: The District and Session Court, East Khasi Hills on Thursday granted bail in all the cases to former Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Meghalaya Police Gabriel K Ïangrai, who was arrested on November 2, 2022 on charges of misappropriation of funds.

As per a source, the court had granted bails in two cases on Wednesday (March 29) and two more on Thursday (March 30). The source further informed that Ïangrai has been previously granted bail in other cases.

The source however deferred to comment on the date of release of the Senior Police Officer from Jail.

Notably, on November 2, Iangrai, serving as the Commandant of the SF-10 battalion, was arrested from his residence after alleged diversion of funds in the construction of National Emergency Response System (NERS) building at Sadar police station at Shillong. Subsequently, the state government froze his bank accounts.
