Tura, April 14: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) celebrated its 71st Council Day on Friday, with a variety of performances by students and cultural groups at Tura District Auditorium.

The event was graced by the Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma, along with DC Jagdish Challani. CEM Albinush R Marak, Dy CEM Nikamn ch. Momin, other EMs and MDCs, GHADC staff, and students also attended the event.

The program commenced with the National Anthem, followed by performances from various schools including Stephen Memorial School, Montfort School, and Girls Higher Secondary School. Tura Public School presented a short skit, while Dokkaku Arts and Culture Association performed Wangala, a Garo harvest festival.

The highlight of the event was the performance by famous Garo rock band Da Suraka, who performed special Garo songs to the delight of the audience.
