Tura, Mar 17: A terrible murder of a child has taken place in Silkigre village of South Garo Hills in which the father is the prime accused.

The crime was reported to Silkigre police at around 12:30pm by the village Laskar (headman) Presingson P Marak Laskar of Silkigre 16A Elaka, who alerted police that one minor girl namely (L) Miss Chidime Ch Sangma D/o Lindrit N Sangma of Ampangdamgre Silkigre was allegedly murdered by her own father who is suspected to be mentally unstable since last one year in their residence at Ampangdamgre, Silkigre.

After allegedly slitting his own daughter’s throat and murdering her, the accused father remains absconding.

The body of the innocent child has been shifted to civil hospital for post-mortem and Police and Crime Scene Unit team from Tura have arrived at the spot. Search is currently on to arrest the accused who had fled away towards the jungle after committing the crime.
