Shillong, Dec 13: The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the grant-in-aid to seven adhoc colleges in the State.
After the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the grant is against a particular post where 75% is paid by the government and 25% by the managing committee.
The colleges include the Raid Laban college, the Women’s College, Tikrikilla College, Mahendraganj and Sohra. He said the seven colleges were actually not receiving the 5th Pay Commission.
“So the government has decided after the necessary homework was done that the 5th Pay Commission is applicable to them. Hence, there is an arrear amount which needs to be cleared so that amount will be cleared and the cabinet has decided today that the impact of that is about Rs 11 crore for the last four and a half years,” he said while adding that this has been a long pending issue and it is finally been cleared.
