Shillong, Mar 23: Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Wednesday said the government is committed to ensure that peace and tranquillity prevails in the state and for that it will try to resolve every possible issue that there is.

Speaking on the peace talks with the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), the Home Minister said, “The process is on and I will not run a commentary on that; I want peace to prevail that’s all.”

“We are alive to the situation. We are very firm that peace and tranquillity should prevail in the state. We will try to resolve whatever issues that are there,” he further affirmed.

On the HNLC’s appeal to the government to suspend all activities against the outfit, Rymbui did not give a direct answer but replied that once the peace process starts, the nitty-gritty of the matter will be looked into.

“We have already appointed our representative of the government (interlocutor). Therefore, necessary communication will be made with him at this point of time… Like I said I am not here to do a running commentary on that but I want that solution should be there that’s all,” he maintained.
